Although, it is not typical for most families to have to deal with the elderly person playing up to the cameras and seeking recognition from total strangers, most families have their own unique circumstances to deal with when an elderly relative is unable to look after themselves. It is our experience that those having to make decisions about elderly relatives’ future, nearly always find the process difficult and emotive. Often, the most difficult decision is whether to find a care home for that person, or leave them in their own home bringing the carers in. The programme climaxed with Norman singing “Don’t Laugh at me Cos I’m a Fool” in front of a very appreciative audience at his chosen care home, which beautifully illustrated that even the most unpopular decision, can often turn out to be the best one for the elderly person in question.
